Plays Itself!
This 15 Schaefer does it all. Warm Jazz, Blues, Country. It's amazing. To quote Redd Volkaert, it damn near plays itself!
I guess you can say I’m addicted
Bought my first Schaefer in 2003, half a dozen Schaefer's later, I guess you can say I'm addicted. Best sounding and playing instruments imaginable, and they just get better with age (like Ed!)
A modern day Da Vincci of guitar builders
Not sure where to begin, a modern day Da Vincci of guitar builders. Never have I seen anyone transform two simple peices of wood into one of the most beautiful guitars on the planet! I have a Schaefer solid body guitar with a finish that looks like you could walk into and get lost for miles! We literally went from a sketch on a napkin to a bass guitar that is simply magnificent.
The Gold Finish
I was fortunate to study under Ed. Ed's attention to detail and work ethic is one of the million of things that make Ed awesome. I worked on (sanded) both my gold mule team and my 16" archtop. An amazing experience that sings everyday. Look at the gold finish!
A Keeper
I was lucky to acquire a beautiful custom 16” Schaefer archtop. The craftsmanship is superb with a wonderful sound, range and finish. The guitar feels great in my hands. I was in Austin to visit family and had time to drop by Ed’s place with my guitar. One of the nicest guys you’ll meet. He looked it over and did a setup on the guitar. Couldn’t be more happier with my guitar. Definitely a keeper.
A real sweetheart
My Schaefer 15 sings! It has the voice of an Angel, but can sound as cantankerous as a thug when you need it. This dynamic guitar has a responsive and many sided personality! It's a real sweetheart.
My favorite guitar
I have many archtop guitars (a gibson L-5 CES, Heritage Golden Eagles, Benedetto Fratello) but my Schaefer 16 is my favorite guitar.
Ed is your man
For anything guitar related, Ed is your man. From lessons to repairs, and full builds, no-one does it like Mr. Schaefer! I've learned so much, not only about guitars and music, but life itself from this wise sage. Truly a top artist of his craft and of human beings.
Performs like a champ
I've had my Schaefer since 2004, I've played it on thousands of gigs and it has always performed like a champ. It has only improved with age, a great guitar from a great maker.
Acoustic Beauty
Ed is a master luthier. Acoustic beauty is matched only by visual elegance. Hard to play anything else after being spoiled by the refined sound and playability of my Schaefer 14" and 15" guitars. And playing without plugging in provides a georgeous tonal pallet that is unmatched by any other guitar I have played.
Lovingly Dubbed Loretta
Loretta is a life changing guitar from a man who also became a good friend, lovingly made and lovingly played. Thanks Ed!
My Schaefer 15
My Schaefer 15 has all the warmth, clarity, intonation and humanity I could ever hope for in a guitar - not to mention, it's devastatingly handsome.
This bass is a work horse!
I am the proud owner of one of the few Schaefer Mule Team basses that Ed has made and the only lefty! This bass is a work horse! It has one of the best tones I have ever heard on a bass guitar, and is stunningly beautiful. It plays like a dream, and almost like clockwork after a live gig, someone will approach me wondering where I got such a beautiful instrument. Ed is a master craftsman and one of the most interesting people I have ever met, who I am lucky enough to call a friend. I am grateful beyond words to own and play a Schaefer.
